Poles Co-Op was founded in 1908. It is a farmer owned Co-operative Society. Throughout its proud history Poles Co-Op has developed and changed with the various trends in agriculture and rural Ireland. In an industry where rationalisation has been the order of the day, the foresight of the various Boards of Management in being pro-active about development and service has ensured that the Society reached the milestone of being 100 years old in 2008. Poles Co-Op is well positioned to serve the community for many years to come.
The business is focused on growing and maintaining market share within both rural and urban communities, by making available, relevant products, at competitive prices, quality service delivered by knowledgeable and committed staff, for the benefit of all stakeholders. We manage our operations through our two business divisions; Agri Business and Livestock Mart. Both share a common purpose – to support viable and sustainable farming in our catchment area. With a positive outlook for the future, we have developed a new corporate identity creating a contemporary, all-encompassing brand identity for the company.
We take pride in every aspect of our business including how our success allows us support many aspects of our local community. The Co-op’s policy is to support sporting, cultural and educational endeavours within our locality. We are local and we are indigenous – and we take pride in that. We contribute to the local economy by supporting local farmers and agriculture generally, providing local employment opportunities, and supporting other local businesses. Our economic relationship with the community is a positive cycle that we are proud of.
